As they say at Vampire Wire, "Without the proper connector - it's just wire!" That's why we use high-quality, gold-plated Vampire Wire connectors in our own speaker cable assemblies, and now, we are offering these same high-quality terminations to those of you you would like to build your own cables.
Vampire Wire uses a direct gold-plating technique to eliminate any undesirable sonic issues that occur with lower-cost methods that use intermediate metals.
Keep in mind that these terminations are intended for professional use, so either soldering or high-pressure crimping is required.
All spades are sold by the pair (two spades), as are all pins (two pins). #SB banana plugs are sold by the pair (one color-coded black one color-coded red). #DB banana plugs are sold by the set (one black and one red).
At the right we have included some examples of how the finished terminations look on Canare Star Quad speaker cables.
With today's high quality audio/video systems, one of the most important components has become the cables and their connectors. Vampire Wire has been researching and developing the highest level products since 1979.
Here is an example of a finished termination using Vampire Wire #HDS5 spades - notice the elongated, offset blade, which is a good fit for most equipment. The design also leaves plenty of room for heat-shrink coverage.
Vampire Wire #SS9 spades are our second most popular. They have a stepped blade, which works with many different binding posts, including oversized designs such as those used on most B&W speakers. This picture shows the connectors installed on Canare Star Quad cable.
These #BAR spades are a good choice for smaller terminals or barrier strips. This picture shows the connectors installed on Canare Star Quad cable.
Our BAR10 spades fit #10 terminal screws or barrier strips, such as those used on Vandersteen 2Ce and conductors up to 10 AWG . This picture shows the connectors installed on Canare 4S11 Star Quad cable. Silver/Nickel-plating over copper.
Vampire Wire #SPD spades have a slimmer blade, which can be helpful in cases of clearance problems. This picture shows the connectors installed
on Canare Star Quad cable.
(formerly known as #SPD8)
The #PIN1 pins are an excellent choice for equipment with large spring-clips, or for use in combination with banana plugs. This picture shows the connectors installed on Canare Star Quad cable.
Here is the #SB single banana plug, installed on an #HDS5 spade. These banana plugs also work will with pins or bare wire, using the lower hole. Sold by the pair.
Here are the #DB double banana plugs. Sold by the set, as shown here.
