HDMI Benefits
HDMI is similar to DVI in some respects. The specification handles high-bandwidth,
uncompressed video, as well as multi-channel digital audio, all with one cable. HDMI encoding and decoding hardware is more robust than the hardware used for DVI, so the signal can stand up to longer runs, wall plates, adapters, and so on, better than DVI. All HDMI-enabled equipment is
backward compatible with DVI by using simple passive adapters or adapter cables.
